A Weekend of Sweets

This was a very busy weekend.

My sister and I hosted a baby shower this weekend. It involved crafting and lots of sweets.

I'll share more about that later though.

In general I had a lot of fabulous sweets this weekend. (seriously I had a sweet problem)

First, I had cannoli on Friday.
No I did not eat all of those. I just had one. I get my cannoli from a local italian bakery. This particular bakery makes the best cannoli I've ever tasted and the mini chocolate chips on the end just make it that much better.
Really you should be jealous you can't eat these.....

Saturday we ate lunch at the Great Traverse Pie Company.
This is their Strawberry Rhubarb Crumb pie. It was delicious.
Best pie I've had in quite a while.
I took one bite and said "this is picture worthy fantastic." My sister took one bite and said this is "Not going to share with the kids fantastic." And she didn't share with the kids...

We made cake pops for the baby shower. I broke this one.
If you haven't ever had a cake pop you are missing something very important.
I say this after having cake pops for the first time this weekend.
Trust me.

Then last night I had dark chocolate covered pretzels just because I could.

I need to stop with the sweets.

I mean really need to cut back.

That probably means I should stop watching food network shows and pinning dessert recipes on pinterest.

Hmmm....or just try to have some will power.

Happy sweets everyone!

Just Splurge a Little

I've splurged on a few things recently.

It's been fabulous I must say.

The first thing I splurged on was a new phone. A new iPhone to be exact.

A new iPhone 4s. And in case you were wondering Suri is amazing.

Even when she scolds me.
Really, she has. I swear!

With that I'm selling my old phone.
It's bittersweet. I adored my first iPhone. It was amazing even as it slowed down because of how much I had on it.

Now this next thing wasn't really a splurge in price. I just didn't technically need it and got sucked into buying it from the TV commercials.
Have you seen the commercials? If you have this is a fabulous product. I love it. Even if I am addicted to most any type of lip gloss or chapstick.

Buy it.

Then yesterday I splurged on a purse. I haven't purchased one in a bit so I decided I deserved it.
It also slightly helped that Anne agreed with me about buying it.

It's always good to shop with a friend who encourages you to buy things.
haha

I bought it at TJ Maxx. It's salmon colored and a Steve Madden purse.

I am officially ready for spring!

That's probably why is snowed tonight.

Yoohoo! Inspriation?

I'm on an inspiration slump.

Well, it's not the inspiration. I have tons of things saved, pinned, and dreams but no motivation.

Nothing screams craft me!

It could possibly be a wallet slump as well. Christmas crafts and gifts and excitement add up quickly.

I also know the big things I want to do and kinda want them done first before I add little things.
Ya know?

I need a headboard before I make pillows.

Just things like that.

But I will be finishing up one last Christmas gift soon! This week!
I do know Christmas is far past but there were some order issues.

It will be a fabulous gift, I can tell you that!

Are you excited yet?

Maybe I just need some small easy crafts to do.

Simple.

Ones I can't mess up that easy.

Suggestions?

Pssttt!!!! Are you doing 100 sit ups a day??

The Song in My Head

Today I sang this song to myself over and over and over.....

"Be optimistic, don't you be a mourner! Brighten up that corner and smile! Don't wear a long face it's never in style! Be optimistic and smile...."

In my head it's the Shirley Temple version.

Is there even any other version?!?!?!

Sometimes, These things Happen

Sometimes, there are things that just happen.

Like accidentally getting your shirt stuck in the seat belt buckle in your car on your drive to work.

Yes. One of those things happened to me this morning. After some slight panic it was really quite amusing. Shall I explain?

I'm one of those people that doesn't buckle their seat belt until after I've backed out of the driveway and turned whichever I'm going. Not the best I know. Especially since it causes you to do it one handed. Well, my shirt was a little longer than normal this morning and apparently was right over the buckle as I pushed in my seat belt, which would not go in. It took me a few minutes to actually realize that I was quite literally stuck. The first thought was "Seriously? I don't have time to go home!!" Then "And I really like this shirt!" After about 5 minutes of tugging with no success I called Anne. Who laughed when I told her why she might have to go get scissors. But after hanging up with her I gave one more yank and my shirt came free 5 minutes away from work. I was able to finally buckle my seat belt and make my car stop beeping at me.

So my morning was a little rough but in the end was a funny story to tell at work. All in all I'm very glad that I have a day off this week!

A Double Hitter of Awesomeness

I thought long and hard about what the title of this post should be and I think I finally got it. It's got a nice ring to it don't it. This past weekend I took some pictures for my friend and her family. It was fun. I am seriously in love with this park and will be going again. It had the most amazing bridge.... Anyways, meet Anne.
I know I've mentioned her before but now you are officially hearing about her and she officially has her own blog post. I met Anne 2 years ago when I started working at the Credit Union. We hit it off almost immediately and it's straight up awesomeness since then. Anne has taught me to let go and laugh no matter what crazy thing is going on. She has taught that no matter what anyone says or what happens at the end of the day still say "Ya, I rock." or in our case it's always "We rock." (And really we do. trust me)  The best talks, the worst inside jokes, the laughter at inappropriate and inopportune times, eating each others feelings and so much more. It has always been interesting to say the least. We act like utter fools and know we completely rock that. The photo shoot was tons of fun. I got some great pictures of her family and her fiance even snapped a couple of us.

Don't they look fabulous. That was taken on the bridge. Love the bridge.

Then it was our mini photo shoot. First one is nice....

Then Anne had to ponder....we do ponder quite a bit.

And then we had to crack up at what she was pondering. Best picture ever. Especially since we were laughing about sucking in our stomachs.

Then one last self picture before we left the park I'm in love with.

To go to a baseball field, which Anne loves, hence the double hitter title.

All in all...it is good times when we hang out. If nothing else we can laugh at ourselves.

Peace out!!!

This is me

Photo via Pinterest

I cracked up when I saw this on Pinterest. I totally feel this way sometimes, okay, maybe more than sometimes. I am stubborn, ornery, and sometimes take pleasure in just being the opposite of what everyone else says. It can be fun. I call it being "helpful" which really means sarcastic on those days. Who else out there is delightfully difficult with me?

Hmm....I feel like this should be a caption under a picture of myself, or a category I could choose on Facebook to describe me. Basically, I love it.

How observant are you

My parents are visiting this week. And as we (parents, sister, brother in-law, and I) were all sitting around the dinner table we were talking about different things that have happened in the past year that I have completely missed and how much of a non morning person I am. Within this conversation my brother in law mentioned someone (a guy) had called him at 5am this morning saying they were coming to our house to make themselves breakfast. My brother in law of course said NO! even though the guy insisted he would be quite. And this caused me to comment on how I would react to someone not in our family being in the kitchen when I stumbled/fell down the stair this morning. First I said I would have woken the entire neighbor hood until I really thought about it. Then through laughing so hard I couldn't speak, tears rolling down my cheeks, and my sister being the only one who could understand what I was saying or trying to say, I said how I really would react.

Here is how I would react if I came down the stairs at any time in the morning to a virtual stranger in the kitchen or any part of the house.

I would not even realize it until I was in the bathroom either on the toilet or brushing my teeth and then I would have absolutely no idea what to do. I would be freaking out in the bathroom without a phone or way to get a hold of my brother in law or sister. I wouldn't be coming out that bathroom. I have a major lacking in the observation area and slow reaction time. I would be the person to open the closet totally not click that someone is hiding in there until after I shut the door. Yep, that's me!

And this is the picture I think best fits this story. I couldn't find a cheesy smile photo. My sister was also in the photo doing something crazy. Photo taking skills courtesy of my brother in law.

Oh ya, that's where I hang out. Feel free to join me!

iPhone Funny

Okay...this is not from my phone. I saw this on pinterest and pulled the picture while I was laughing so hard tears were falling out of my eyes. Then I proceeded to send a whale to every person I could think of whose phone would show it. (Do you see the whale? It took me a minute) I sent it to my sister first and could here her laughing in my room.

It still makes me smile.

Ya know what I hate

I hate stairs. All of them. There is not one set of stairs that I like or want to walk on. I'm always tripping on them or falling (like today)  and I'm rather over it. I try to be careful. I watch what I'm doing and I don't know what happens.

Therefore. I. HATE. stairs.

That's all. Have a great Saturday.

I have an Addiction

Hello, my name is Elizabeth and I have an addiction to chapstick and/or lip gloss.

I must must must always have one of these on my lips. I can't even be downstairs in my own house without a chapstick in my pocket. I am always buying new chapstick's and can't even tell you how many I have in my purse. It probably dries my lips out more than helps but it's been started and I can't stop. One day I may find the perfect and my favorite chapstick, but I'm still searching. But trust me, I will tell you when I find it!

A 2 left shoe day

That's what my Monday was. (I know I'm posting this on Tuesday.) I decided to wear slippers (that's local Hawaiian for flip flops) to work since it was pouring rain. I brought my work shoes in a seperate bag. Well I thought I did. I got to work and discovered I had two different color brown shoes. At first I was like hey that's not so bad, I'll be ghetto, no big deal. Until I saw that they were both left shoes.

Yep, a two left shoe day. Thankfully my amazing co-worker keeps a spare set of shoes at work that I was able to wear.

Hope you don't ever have a 2 left shoe day!

P.S. these aren't my shoes, I was too annoyed at the time to photograph my humiliation!

Cause I'm Cool like dat

Yes, that is a Perry the Platypus t-shirt. I have one because I am cool like dat. My sister is also cool like dat since she bought me the shirt. I don't know if it was a "I'm so sorry your hair turned out horrible" or just a thank you gift. Possibly both.

If you would like a Perry the Platypus t-shirt of your own you are going to need to check out the kids department. I believe mine is a boys large or x-large. It fits me well and I'm normally a woman's medium. This particular shirt was bought at Sears but I'm sure you could find some at most stores with Disney apparel. And then you can be cool like dat, with me.

TV Commercials

TV Commercials. You either hate them or you love them. Or you love some of them and hate all the rest.  Am I right or am I right?

Me, I'm slightly indifferent. I'm the person that forgets I can forward the commercials while something on the DVR. I love some and others annoy the crap out of me but I don't mind that they interrupt my shows. For some reason I started thinking about old commercials that I just love. The ones that have stuck with me and I wish were still on TV. I thought I would share some of them with you!

First, my all time favorite. Is the old old cool whip commercial they would play around the holidays. You know the one where the go "Do the coo ooo oool whii iiippp COOL WHIP!!" (I know the effect is lost in writing)   I still wish this would play around the holidays. Love it!

Then there is the old Pepsi commercials with the little girl. You know who I'm talking about! The little girl with the big curly hair that HAD to have a Pepsi! Those were always great to watch as well! Awesomeness!
And one last one though there are quite a few that get stuck in my head! You remember that yoplait yogurt commercial right? With the song "she wore and itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini..." in it? Now did that get stuck in your head or what! In high school one of my teachers banned us from singing that any more. (Yes, we sang it enough that was necessary.)  One of those that just caught you up. Ya know?

Well, now that you want Cool Whip, Pepsi, Yoplait yogurt, and have the itsy bitsy song stuck in your head, y'all have a good night! Oh, and feel free to comment about your favorite commercials as well! Spread the madness!

Just a Side Note

There is a pigs head on our dining room table. (Actually it's a boars head) But it's still a head sitting on the table and it startles me every time I walk into the room. I have no clue why it was put there or why it is still there.

That is all.

Curse the cold and other things

I have a summer cold and I strongly dislike it. And when I say strongly I mean I am cursing the cold. (I want to yell it like "curse you Perry the Platypus but it just doesn't have the same ring to it)  Along with cursing the cold it has also made me extremely irritable today. If you would like confirmation I can give you a list of coworkers who heard, felt, and witnessed my irritation today. Speaking of irritation I don't know what was with people this week. I dealt with a TON of attitude this week that I did not appreciate on top of this cursed cold. (Now that sounds good. Cursed cold. It flows.)

Now for the other things.

I worked on some fun projects last night. I will tell you about them when I get decent pictures. They didn't turn out exactly as I imagined but I like 'em.

I want to change up my blog. Make it exciting, easy to use, nice, and just change it up. I added a new background if you didn't notice. But the other stuff is a little more difficult to figure out.

I've decided I need to get out of my comfort zone. Not sure how I will do that yet but....it's in the works. I'm very much stuck in my rut and realized it isn't good. Are you stuck in your routine and normal stuff? Ever tried to change it up? What did you do? I'm open to suggestions. (That aren't outlandish or freak me out)

My last other thing is an announcement. I'm working on a top secret project! Very very top secret. You can't know anything about it until the appropriate time. Which cannot be explained because of what it could give away. All I can say it is brilliant and those that know about it LOVE it! (Don't let the anticipation kill you please!

That is a wrap up of my other things. Now back to nursing my cursed cold...

I actually won something!!!

I don't know about you but I enter giveaways all the time. For tv shows, magazines, on blogs, and wherever else looks exciting! But I never ever win! I mean I can be consistent and I never win. Until last month! I entered a giveaway on a new blog I'm following called B.Cheniful and I won! You have NO idea how excited I was! I yelled and jumped up and down on my seat! (I'm crazy, I know)   Now for what I won! Check it out!
I'm rockin' her button headband and infinity scarf! Doesn't that button headband remind you of something? Maybe some button earrings??? Shown here. You should definitely check out B.Cheniful and her awesome creations!

Side note! Some progress has been made with my duvet cover!!! Isn't that exciting?! I wish I could take all the credit but my marvelous sister took time out of her busy day to try stuff, google things, and mess around with our high tech sewing machine (that we have no instruction manual for) to get things going! If we keep it up and set time aside for the next couple weeks maybe it will get finished!

Fingers Crossed!

If Only!

Wouldn't that just be fabulous! Secret tunnels even if they lived in a different state, then it should be a portal. Don't you think this would be perfect???

IF ONLY!
