I love food!

I love good food! I heard a quote recently that says "Food is essential to life, therefore make it good!" How brilliant is that? I had a weekend alone recently and had to cook for myself. (Normally my sister does all the cooking.) I had a lot of fun and made some really yummy dishes!

The first dish I made was a chicken avocado sandwich. It was delish! I was inspired by an episode of diners, drive ins, and dives. I googled the recipe (everything is on google) and found it here. I picked up some fresh bread at a local italian bakery. Doesn't it look yummy! I could eat another one right now!
The next night I had some girls over and we had salad and lasagna. Sadly I only got a picture of the salads. The lasagna turned out pretty good though. Then we had cannoli for dessert! (We ate those too fast to even take pictures) Cannoli is my new love I think.  P.S. the drinks are sparkling cranberry apple cider
I slacked on pictures for most everything else but I made homemade burgers and teriyaki steak as well. The only picture I have left is of the fruit tarts I made. Yes, fruit tarts. Another slight obsession I had. With most these things I HAVE to figure out how to make them. A friend at work helped me find a recipe online here. It was a simple recipe to follow and I used blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries on my tarts.
They were as good as they look and I ate waaay too many! Oh! and a little side note, the recipe says you should refrigerate the filling overnight but I didn't and it turned out fine. I put mine in the fridge for about 30 minutes and it was great. So...get your ingredients, bake, and enjoy! Fruit tarts are an awesome summer treat!

Calm before the storm?

I had a different post planned for tonight but I had to show you what it looked like outside about an hour ago. It's been thundering for most the evening and I came downstairs after doing yoga (which we will discuss later) and when I glanced out the window it was orange. There was an orange hue over everything. It was weird and something I hadn't seen before.
It's supposed to storm tonight and I just heard there are major flood warnings so it looks like it will be a good one. I mostly enjoy storms and I'm ready for something to break the heat so my room isn't so stifling!

Best Quote of the Week!!!

"Chocolate won't let you down!"

I mean really how extremely true is that!!! Unless you don't like chocolate or are allergic to it then I am very sad for you. So now I am going to make this quote even more true by eating some chocolate in hopes that it makes my night even the tiniest bit better.

Complain, Whine, Complain

This is just for me today. I have been the biggest complainer, whiner, or whatever else you want to call it this week. Remember my whole "be positive" part of my 2011 plan, ya, don't know where that went! Now mind you I can give you some pretty darn good excuses and reasons why I'm complaining but in the end they are still just excuses. I haven't looked at any positives this week. I let circumstances and my emotions take me down and looking back it was basically pathetic.

Of course I didn't think it was pathetic until the end of the week, mainly last night after our ladies Bible study. My sister teaches it and we are going through the fruit of the spirit. Last night we went over Faith and surprisingly complaining came up. If you can imagine I felt a little ridiculous but realized it's true. Complaining, worrying, whining, it all says no faith. Not just faith in God, but in yourself, those around you, and what you believe. I tried being more positive today and not focusing and what was frustrating me, had faith that God would work it out and that I could handle what was given. Amazingly enough I had a much much better day. So, if everything is going wrong and you are having the most miserable day of your life have some faith, be positive, and see the difference.

Stop complaining! Have faith!

Rave Review!

I've actually been using Origins since May 2010 and I am still loving it! Usually with face products I buy something new before I even finish one bottle because I stop liking it and feel like it stops working. I literally would have bottles and bottles of moisturizers, creams, and face washes sitting around half empty that I wasn't using. Not anymore!!!

The picture is of my newest purchases and I got the great deal! The middle container which is their GinZing eye cream is normally over $30 by itself and I got everything shown for that price. I have been squeezing the life of the little sample bottles of eye cream I've had for months now! The bottle on the far left is Modern Friction, an exfoliater that works great. The bottle on the far right is the GinZing moisturizer and is great for summer since it has a little tint in it.

I really love their products. I have a face wash, serum, a day and night moisturizer, the stuff I bought this weekend and I also use their tinted moisturizing foundation. My skin feels great! I don't get flaky spots and I have less trouble spots. I love it all! It's a little pricey for what I usually spend but it lasts a looong time. Every bottle I've had has lasted at least 6 months no problem and they do sets for great deals just like what I bought this weekend.

So this was longer than I meant it to be but I couldn't just say it was great! lol If you have an Origins near you call and set up a mini facial for yourself and see for yourself!

Sushi!!!

Oh, how I love it! I don't get to eat it that often but I love love love sushi! I even found a decent place here in Michigan. Granted it isn't as cheap as Hawaii but it's good. I have my favorites and I got all three of them tonight.
In the top left corner is a Volcano roll, then the MSU roll with crab salad on top, and the smaller roll is spicy tuna. Doesn't it look fabulous!  Mmm...Yummy! I'm full but it still looks good! I used a coupon at JcPenny last night and got a new top for $3.00. Good deal yes? Here it is!
Fun and something different from the rest of my wardrobe. Now to lose weight before I buy a bunch more clothes so I have a real reason and don't need even more clothes. Sigh...such a process!

Quote of the day

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.  ~Victor Frankl
There isn't much I can say to expand on this quote. I believe sometimes the only we option we have is to look within ourselves at our problems, our issues and make changes to help change where we are at. It isn't easy but the results are great.
